Tips for Financial Freedom: Using Online Bill Pay

Online bill payment, a service offered by Honor Bank, makes it easier to organize and pay your bills and avoid late fees. In addition to the convenience of paying bills from your own computer day or night, you’ll save money on the cost of postage and the trouble of going to a mailbox, or leaving personal mail in your home mailbox for pickup. And you’ll save trees because it’s paperless!

Paperless bill pay online is pretty common — it’s done by a large majority of Americans. But most do it by using multiple websites and various providers. That raises the odds of forgetting a payment.

Instead, think about receiving and paying your bills all through your Honor Bank Online account — one list, in one place. Consider how that could simplify matters. And help you avoid late fees.

The concept is straightforward. Before you get started, make sure you have the following items:

  • Your account number at our bank.
  • Your Social Security number (SSN) or Tax Identification number (TIN).
  • Your email address on file with Honor Bank.

If your enrollment application is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email. You must confirm your identity through a link in this email.

Here’s what you need to do next to set it up:

  • Gather all your bills, including account numbers and the addresses to where you mail the payments.
  • Enter each biller’s information into Bill Pay. Choose when to send the payment.
  • Select recurring or one-time payment.
  • Set reminders to track when each bill is due and/or paid.

After you login to your bank account, navigate to its online bill pay feature. Then, you select the bill provider and plug in the account number for each of your bills, and authorize Honor Bank to send the payment for you.

Honor Bank can send your payments electronically or via a paper check, so you can pay bills online even if the biller isn’t set up for it. You can choose a one-time payment or set up recurring bill payments. You can select whether to pay the entire balance, just the minimum due, or another amount.

In addition to paying companies such as your electric or cable providers online, you can also send a payment to a person, such as your landlord, your kids or that family member that always needs a little extra money. You can virtually eliminate the need for a checkbook. Another way we make your life easier!
