December 1st starts the Bear Lake Branch’s support of The Bear Lake Food Pantry.
The Bear Lake Food Pantry is a nonprofit organization who provides free and/or low cost food for anyone residing in Bear Lake or Arcadia zip codes. They hold a food pantry and community dinner on the first and third Thursday of every month. The first Thursday pantry is held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the third Thursday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Food Pantry works with Feeding America and has new inventory every Tuesday. Working with Feeding America allows them to purchase goods at prices as low as $.16 a pound! To raise funds for this organization, an annual pig roast is held during Bear Lake Days, they receive grants from the Manistee County, and accept cash and/or food donations.
The food pantry has had 75 families register throughout Bear Lake and Arcadia. They strictly rely on volunteers to pick up the food, unload and stock in preparation for the food pantry days. The Bear Lake Food Pantry has been helping our community for the last two years and having community dinners for the last four years. By helping Bear Lake Food Pantry with a cash donation, they will be able to purchase and continue supplying food for those in need in our community.
In order to help them raise funds, we will be doing the following:
- Selling candy bars for a minimum donation of $1 at all branch locations
- The Bear Lake branch will have a bake sale on Friday, December 15th.
- The Bear Lake branch has been collecting pop cans for the whole year, and will continue to collect for the month of December.
- Bank-wide jean days will continue every Friday for the month of December: 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th.
Thank you in advance for everyone’s help. We sincerely appreciate it and I know that the volunteers who donate their time will appreciate all our efforts.
