Honor Bank continues to celebrate its 100-year anniversary during 2017 by supporting a different local, non-profit agency each month with volunteer hours and donations collected from employees and customers. The Benzonia Branch Office staff are the Champions for August and will plan events to support the Benzie Senior Resources.
The first event planned is the Benzie Senior Resources Walk-A- Thon, scheduled for Saturday, August 5 at Frankfort Bellows Park on Crystal Lake, with team and individual registration between 7:30 am and 9 am. The Walk-A-Thon will begin at 9 am. “The annual Walk-A-Thon is a morning of fun, friendship, caring and giving to support our seniors,” said Honor Bank’s Vice President and Event Champion Nancy Coalter. “This event is a major source of funding for the Benzie Senior Resource Center.”
The Benzie Senior Resource Center is located in Honor, Mich. The Walk-A-Thon Teams will walk, run, or bike six miles along the shores of Crystal Lake with stopping points along the way. It will happen rain or shine beginning at 9 am on August 5. The funds raised by the Walk-A-Thon help to provide in-home care, meals, transportation and more, allowing individuals to stay in their homes. See www.benzieseniorresources.org for more information on the Walk-A-Thon and the Benzie Senior Resources.
"Our goal is get 10 Honor Bank walkers to raise $1000 to Benefit Benzie Senior Resources, a non-profit organization serving the seniors of Benzie County,” said
Honor Bank’s Event Champion Lucie Scholten. “We will continue to fundraise for Benzie Senior Resources the entire month of August with a bake sale on August 11. Each Honor Bank branch will collect cash donations for “shoes” to be hung on the wall with the name of the donor.”
In addition, each Honor Bank branch will collect items for the seniors like calendars, ornaments, crossword/word search puzzles, Kleenex, socks, shampoo, toilet paper, hats, lap blankets, tea bags and flashlights. Honor Bank welcomes any of these items to be dropped off at a favorite Honor Bank location.
“As the local community bank, we have a great group of employees and customers who sincerely care about our communities,” said Worden. “We are all honored to celebrate our anniversary throughout the year by Giving Bank to Our Communities, and Benzie Senior Resources.”
